Beschreibung |
Situated at the edge of the vast
Nekrit expanse, the Nekrit Station is a supply depot for mining and trading ships which
intend to cross the region of interstellar dust with only few planets, which has a
diameter of several thousand light years, and which need supplemental equipment and hull
armors because of the dangerous plasma storms that interfere with the sensors. Beside
repair and maintenance, trade is an important task of the Nekrit Station, which serve as a
trade center for cargo of all sorts and sales place for legal as well as illegal goods. As
a fully equipped trading outpost, the station has appropriate docking ramps, cargo
rooms and shopping malls. The most wanted goods are raw materials and spare parts for
starships, warp plasma and maps of the almost completely unknown region beyond the
expanse. These products can be obtained on the large promenade of the station with its
shops and taverns, where also the trade with information and exchange of experiences is
thriving. The station is strictly led without compromises by station manager Bahrat, which
only gives starships the permission to dock if they accept his far-reaching authorities,
among them the observation of all transactions and 20% share for all deals. Nonetheless,
the trade with drugs and narcotics like Rhuludian crystals is flourishing, especially in
the rarely used, dark corridors of the outer docking ramps, which are insufficiently
supervised and are consequently very dangerous. Despite Bahrat's attempts to stop the
trade with narcotics by the total control of all deals and the supervision of all comm
channels from his station central, the Kolaati outsmart the monitoring system of the
station again and again, being the leading group in this business. To prevent such illegal
activities, Bahrat imposes deterrent punishments on every catched smuggler, putting him in
the cryostatic station jail for several decades. Because of Bahrat's efforts to lower
criminal activites, finally the fair, legal trade with goods and pieces of information
between like-minded travellers, which are passing through on their voyage from or to the
Nekrit expanse, is predominant on the station. |

On her journey back home, the USS
Voyager docks at the Nekrit Station to obtain several needed spare parts and raw
materials, among them pergium for the regeneration of the filters of the environmental
systems and magnetic spindle bearings for the reaction control system, since the dangerous
voyage through the Nekrit Expanse will take months. While Cmd. Chakotay and Lt. Paris try
to buy the needed goods on the trading outpost, crewmember Neelix becomes involved in
criminal transaction when he tries to obtain a map for the region beyond the Nekrit
Expanse and 45 kg pergium by working together with his former business partner Wixiban.
Neelix gets 20 kg pergium, however, the buyer of the illegal Rhuludian crystals
transported with a Voyager shuttle to the station, the drug peddler Sutok, tries deceive
and kill him and Wixibin at the handing over in the corridor 14L near the outer docking
ramps. Before he can fire his weapon, however, he is shot down by Wixiban. Since a
Starfleet phaser has been used, Bahrat gets wise to the illegal deals. However, he
suspects Chakotay and Paris and imprisons them. Neelix and Wixiban give themselves up to
Bahrat, but offer to catch the head of the Kolaati drug peddlers, Tosin, in order not be
sentenced to 50 years in the cryostatic jail. After Tosin has been successfully arrested,
with the cargo bay totally devastated and one of the criminals dead due to a plasma
explosion, Wixiban leaves the station with his ship that he got back from Bahrat, and
Neelix returns to Voyager, which departs shortly afterwards. |

During their
scientific expedition regarding the confirmation of the theory of the distant origin the
Voth scientists Dr. Gegen and his assistant Veer arrive at the Nekrit Station. They search
for a starship called Voyager which is populated by humanoids akin to the Voth, which left
behind one of their people on Hanon IV. Indeed, on the promenade of the Nekrit Station,
one of the travellers can help them: he reports that a group of strangers passed the
station on their way home some months ago, and specifies the human appearance interpolated
by Gegen. Several pieces of equipment left behind and finally a container with warp plasma
help the Voth to localize Voyager. They leave the station to intercept the vessel, which
is already hundreds of light years away, as quickly as possible. |
